Strong Women Building Strong Girls

Our Philanthropic Partner
Girls on the Run
Gamma Phi Beta partners internationally with Girls on the Run, an organization that provides afterschool programming to girls in 3rd - 8th grades. These programs focus on fostering healthy habits, both physical and mental. The curriculum pairs confidence and empowerment building with training for a 5k. Girls on the Run has chapters all over the country. At Pepperdine, we get to work directly with Girls on the Run Los Angeles! Whether through online donations or volunteering at a location near you, find out how you can get involved with Girls on the Run today!
Signature Event
Moonball
Every academic year, we host Moonball! Moonball is a kickball, volleyball or basketball tournament to raise funds for Girls on the Run. Student organizations and groups on campus are encouraged to participate. Each organization has GPhis to coach them and cheer them on throughout the week. At Pepperdine, we get to paint the rock on Main Campus during our Philo week. Moonball is always a blast because we get to encourage other organizations while supporting an amazing cause.
Volunteering
Beyond Moonball
Because we have a local council of Girls on the Run, we are able to support them through more than just fundraising. We often volunteer at Girls on the Run races! At these events we cheer runners on with posters, make tutus, paint faces, and provide an environment for all the girls to feel their best! Some Gamma Phi Betas have even served as coaches for local Girls on the Run programs. Girls on the Run is especially important to us because many Pepperdine Gamma Phis were former Girls on the Run!
Lainey Power MC '24
"As a young girl, Girls on the Run helped me build a strong self image and my confidence in myself. As I’ve gotten older, these basic skills have lended to my resilience and ability to navigate hardship. I am incredibly grateful to have ended up in a sorority that values instilling these skills in girls, both in and outside of GOTR."
